Nursing Home Negligence
and Elder Abuse
Lawyers
We are passionate about
protecting the rights of the elderly in our society. Family members place
their loved ones in nursing homes because they are in need of
specialized care. Likewise, individuals enter assistive living centers
because they are in need of additional care.
There are both federal and state laws that govern how the elderly should
be treated in nursing homes and assistive living centers. The lawyers and
staff at M. Angela Dentice LLC, are familiar with these laws and are
familiar with how the elderly should be treated in these facilities. The
lawyers have worked with representative from the
Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Department
of Aging on our clients’ behalf.
Nursing home negligence cases can involve such cases as the failure to
refer a health condition to a physician, the failure to provide
appropriate physical therapy, occupational therapy or range of motion
exercises, failure to turn a resident resulting in decubiti ulcers (bed
sores), and failure to provide adequate assistance resulting in a fall.
Cases can also involve outright abuse.
In situations in which a resident of a nursing home or assisted living
facility sustains injuries or wrongful death as a result of lack of
appropriate care, the resident (and often the resident’s family members)
is entitled to compensation. Ms. Dentice has represented many residents
of nursing homes and their families. These claims have involved serious
injuries and death to elderly individuals. These claims have involved
failure to appropriately diagnose and treat various medical conditions,
falls, bed sores, infections and the development of contractures.
Our firm has worked with many well-respected “experts” in the areas of
nursing home administration (including directors of nursing), clinical
nurses, gerontologists, family practice doctors and infectious disease
doctors. These experts are needed to successfully prosecute these cases.
